Industrial Food Metal Detector Calibrations
and Training Seminars

The Bio-Terrorism Act has revolutionized the food industry. Security, Trace-ability and Risk management are now standard operating procedures.

Fastec Services LLC has many clients all over the USA and overseas that we provide annual or bi-annual calibrations to. It is of the up most importance that industrial metal detectors are checked on a regular basis by a professional, as most manufacturers use the same technology, the "balanced coil system" this technology incorporates an oscillator circuit and a receiver, if the receiver is not tuned correctly to the oscillator then the system will not perform as it should. Over time the characteristics of the copper coils and components within the detector head change causing a out of balance signal, this change in the characteristics of the coils and components is due to temperature, vibration and general ageing of electronic components that are subjected to heat, as they are in a oscillator circuit.

Some manufacturers use automatic balance technology to overcome this problem, however it seems that with time even the most sophisticated auto balance circuitries have a limit to how far they can auto balance a signal.

When the head is out of balance you will not get the optimum performance from your critical control point. This is why it's very important to have them calibrated on a regular basis.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Annual or bi-annual preventive maintenance/calibration inspections include the following:

*  Calibrate the coil and reference voltages and balance the coil to under 40mv.
*  Assure proper mounting, isolation and tighten or adjust any conveyor items.
*  Phase the unit to the product and/or to ferrite.
*  Plan programming on digital systems.
*  Report system sensitivity and capabilities.
*  Provide each inspected unit with a calibration report useable for HACCP and Audits.

Key Benefits

  • Keep your metal detectors working at their optimum.
  • Keep you product safe for consumption or protect expensive machinery in textiles.
  • Present our calibration service reports for audits and HACCP.
  • Having calibrations is also preventive maintenance.

Training Seminars are performed by Fastec Services LLC
