Used Metal Detectors
Used Food, pharmaceutical and textile metal detectors buyers guide.

Before purchasing a used metal detector, you must ask a potential seller the following questions:

1.
Is my product a conductive or non-conductive product?  Industrial food metal detectors have to be tuned to your product, therefore a suitable operating frequency must be chosen that is suited to your product, as frequency aids in the sensitivity capabilities of the detector, it's important that the detector you buy has the correct operating frequency for your product.

2.
What frequency will the industrial metal detector have to be set to, to successfully detect Non-Magnetic Stainless steel, Non Ferrous and Ferrous contaminants in my product?  This depends on the product type, temperature, conductivity and the product size,  we may ask for a product sample if we think it's necessary before final tuning. This is very important, as your clients may have stipulated that you need a metal detector capable of detecting a 1 mm metal test sample in Non-Ferrous, Ferrous and Stainless Steel.

PLEASE NOTE: Three identical metal detectors with the same product aperture sizes running at 3 different frequencies will all have different sensitivity capabilities!

3.
What temperature is your product?  Knowing the product temperature will help us select the correct frequency and mode for your used industrial metal detectors .

4.
Is the installation location electrically noisy?  The position of the installation should be chosen carefully, care should be taken to keep the metal free area clear of moving objects, close contact with electrical noise radiating devices such as a variable speed drives should be avoided.

5.

Will the metal detector be washed down?  Damage can occur with water when cleaning if the wrong metal detector is chosen for the application. Not all can be washed down!

6.
Will there be a warranty?  We provide a 6-month parts and labor warranty to all our reconditioned food, pharmaceutical and textile metal detectors. We also provide on-site start up, ongoing service and support, AIB Calibrations to satisfy your HACCP requirements.

     7. Will I be able to get our used metal detectors repaired quickly in a breakdown situation?   Typically less than 24hrs. We also offer spare part packages and 24/7 telephone technical support.

8.
Will I need to have my detectors calibratedCalibrations are very important in the life of a metal detector, we recommend at least annually.  We also stock test samples in ferrous non-ferrous and grade 316 stainless steel.

9.
Is one brand better than the other?  Without question!

10.

How much do spare parts cost?   The spares prices of all leading brands of metal detectors vary quite allot, check into this before you purchase a particular brand, electronic control panels can cost as much as $4900.
